It is all too rare that I recommend a movie. A combination of too few good movies making their way to the screen and my busy life not allowing me to find the good films that are out there. Perhaps that explains the happiness I have in recommending Once. The film is available on the new itunes rental service.
Once is a next generation musical starring Glen Hansard, lead singer of The Frames (another strong recommendation there.) The film is so intimate if feels like you are watching someone’s memories. I did not realize that the actor was the singer for The Frames and I easily could have imagined this as a documentary of the discovery of a huge new talent making his first record.
The music scene in Ireland is amazing at the moment. The generation inspired by U2 is making its mark.
